Ana Lekše is a young Slovenian aerial artist, costume designer, and art historian based in Leuven, Belgium. With a degree in Art History from the University of Ljubljana, Ana combines various aerial disciplines (rope, silks, hoop), hair hanging, movement, puppetry, literature, old folktales, pantomime, and art history in her artistic practice. Her work explores the intersection of movement, materiality, and storytelling, often incorporating historical references and intricate costume design.
Ana honed her skills in puppetry, dance, aerial disciplines, physical theatre, and costume making through various mentors and experiences.
Throughout her career, Ana has collaborated with a wide variety of artists and collectives, including Circus Ronaldo, Collectif Carre Curieux, Lyapunov, Marth De Kinder, David Roussel, Pieter Janssens, Irena Rajh, and Zavod Bufeto. She was also part of the ‘Old School is Cool’ project, produced by Gwendolien Sabbe from De Spil, with Bram Dobbelaere as their mentor and coach. Ana thrives on combining different performing and visual art forms, always seeking new ways to weave together these diverse elements.
